Our customers profit from our holistic approach, which considers cultural differences as much as subjective evaluations and individual sensitivities.

Identifying with our customers and the continued involvement that results from this make LSI a reliable and dedicated translation service provider that can not only support in-house translation departments but can also build an LSI team which will be just as effective should your company not already have a dedicated department.

For us, customer satisfaction is motivation and obligation in one. It sets the bar and LSI has the setup to reach this bar.

LSI Translations uses the Across Language Server as its central technology platform. This software enables a transparent translation process that achieves maximum quality and efficiency through system-controlled data and process security.

The core function of a computer-assisted translation tool (CAT tool) is the translation memory (TM). Whilst a text is being translated, the TM saves the source and target sentence together as a text pair in a database. Whenever similar or identical source passages appear for translation, the text pair previously saved appears on the screen and can be entered with one click.

The translation memory guarantees maximum continuity and reusability of foreign-language documentation, and ensures that company terminology remains consistent and correct.

At the start of a new working relationship, the translation memory is ready to be filled with current data, such as terminology and the definitions given by the company. If there are no current data sets available, the first text pairs created from the translation are used to create the memory. From there, the translation memory grows in size with every translation.

The reusability of source and target pairs of text optimises both factors of time and money. Repeating translations, researching, entering the text and formatting similar or identical passages of text is reduced if not completely avoided. Whenever a new text is available for translation, the first step is its analysis. All sections found to match existing translation segments in the memory (‘matches’) are recognised and the word price is reduced by a certain percentage, depending on how similar the segments in question are.

For German industries which depend on their exports, products, which are becoming ever more complex, need to be documented in ever more languages. In many mid-sized companies, the available means have often not grown to meet these tasks. We find that following aspects pose particular difficulties:

  • Delays in the global marketing of a product
  • Dramatic increases of translation costs
  • Slowed translation processes
  • Terminology and data sets growing faster than can be managed
  • Poor quality of translation
  • Lack of recyclability

In terms of setting up efficient translation processes, LSI Translations can lean upon significant practical experience gained with mid-sized companies. We have experience in accompanying our customers every step of the way during the introduction of integrated language technologies, and work closely with every company to define new translation workflows.

Companies that integrate language technology generally undergo a complete restructuring of their product information management, from generating the source text, to editing systems and text modularisation, right up to the automation of translation workflows and assurance systems.

Redefining translation workflows means enabling the company to achieve transparency and control over their foreign-language product information, minimising costs and accelerating the time-to-market of their products.

LSI Translations has the expertise to support you in this process. We analyse your existing processes and work with you to develop new processes that are tailored to the individual demands of your company, whether you intend to integrate language technology into your company or not.
